BET THE RAPTORS (-111) AT BET365. The Raps look as good as we’ve seen them. Back-to-back quality wins on the road against OKC and the (formerly) 6-1 Hornets. They’re now at home to the Knicks, the NBA’s hottest mess. Right now Demar is playing as well as the NBA wants you to think Carmelo can. Raps will win and I think it will be over by halftime. The Raps game can really expose the Knicks weaknesses. They’ve got poor perimeter, and inconsistent half court defense, and superstars with no leaders. Bet on the team in the retro Huskies uniforms. 

The Los Angeles Lakers @ The New Orleans Pelicans Prediction 

BET THE PELICANS (-111) AT BET365. The birds are coming off their first win of the season, so they have a rare dose of confidence. That win was a road win too, with them returning home to the Smoothie King Center (god, that name will just never sound menacing) tonight. When a team goes on a long losing streak, you get a sudden spike in confidence when it's over. So it’s not unusual to see someone lose 8 in a row, then win 3 of 4. The Lakers are better than we thought, but they’re still young and will struggle tonight against a New Orleans team with a hint of swagger.

The Boston Celtics @ The Indiana Pacers

BET THE PACERS (-111) AT BET365. This is a battle of two teams trying to figure themselves out. Both were media picks to take over the east and push the Raptors down the standings, while threatening the Cavs. Yeah, how’s that going? Harsh, I know. I still like both these teams, but neither team has played any damned D all year. Boston is sputtering. And the Pacers are in a bad mood after the dubious honor of handing the (formerly) winless Sixers their first win of the season. They also let those Sixers score 115 and 109 points in back-to-back games. That may be the kick in the arse they need to lock in and start playing the type of basketball critics said they would. 

The Washington Wizards @ Chicago Bulls

BET THE BULLS (-111) AT BET365. This game fascinates me. The battle of two backcourts that you want to be better. Rondo and Wade haven’t really caught a rhythm, but it’s still early. It is not early for Washinton's Wall and Beal though. There is a rift between these two players and they rarely play well in the same game-- you get one or the other. They’re coming off a home win against the world champs. But likely because the Cavs were emotionally exhausted after taking selfies with the Obamas the night before the game. In any case, The Bulls are the stronger team and will hold it down at home. 

The Philadelphia 76ers@ The Atlanta Hawks

BET THE HAWKS (-111) @  BET365. The Hawks have surprised me, and look great out of the gates. A good start is crucial for the Hawks to make the Dwight Howard experiment work. Otherwise, the pouting starts. Right now, he’s happy and producing. He’s averaging an inhuman 16 and 12 in only 28 minutes a night. The Hawks are dialed in and are currently 2nd in the NBA in point differential per game. That means they’re playing both ends. The Sixers are coming off their first win of the season, so like the Pelicans, they may arrive in Atlanta with a bit of swagger. But they’re going to have a much harder time winning on the road in Atlanta. In fact, they won’t.
