Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks NHL Playoff Picks Today
Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Game 7
The best words from the NHL Playoffs: Game. Seven. The Ducks caught the hockey world's attention with a monumental comeback against the Oilers in game five but game six was a totally different story. Edmonton returned home and embarrassed Anaheim as Leon Draisaitl dropped a hat trick en route to a 7-1 blowout. The Oilers' speed and offensive explosion seemingly caught the Ducks unguarded and they never took their foot out of the gas pedal. The Ducks will need to quickly forget this shellacking and contain an Oilers' team that is red-hot.
Series: Series tied 3-3
Anaheim Ducks
So much for experience. The Ducks phoned this in but this isn't taking away from the Oilers' prolific scoring abilities. Three goals within the first eight minutes of the first spelled the end of John Gibson's night and the Ducks never recovered instead deciding to rack up penalties and get chippy with the Oilers. They were also outdrawn in the faceoff circle for the first time in the series. Returning to Anaheim, the Ducks must quickly assert their pace and give Gibson better protection as they prepare for a firefight.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers could've been deflated by blowing game five but instead lit a fire underneath their butts and took it to Anaheim before they could spell Edmonton. The Oilers' ability to bounce back from heartbreaking results is surprising given the team's young status but they've again proven they are a tougher team than looks appear. With the Ducks on the ropes, the Oilers must continue to attack the net restlessly as they are the quicker team with better offensive creativity and netminder Cam Talbot returning to solid form.
The Winner
Following the game six results, it's tough to bet on the Ducks but it's also tough to count them out. The last game was an aberration mainly for their goaltender and defense and they'll put on a complete performance in game seven.
The Ducks are at pick'em price should be a decent bet as they will dig deep and edge out the Oilers to make a return trip to the western conference finals after two seasons with captain Ryan Getzlaf still being the best forward in the series while their underrated secondary scoring delivers right when they need it most.
