Edmonton vs Colorado: Expect a Rocky Mountain NHL Shootout
Colorado Avalanche: Aim for revenge versus lowly Oilers
Though they have enjoyed a 7-3-1 run in March, Colorado’s playoff pulse is barely beating as they are eight points out of the NHL postseason race. The Avalanche will be looking to avenge a crucial loss versus the Oilers as Edmonton posted a 4-3 win last Wednesday in Alberta. There are several reasons why the Avalanche are on the outside looking in but that contest may have been the dagger in Colorado’s postseason heart. That said, don't expect the 'Lanche to just rollover tonight.
Winning streak has pushed Edmonton out of the Battle for the NHL Basement
Not exactly sure why they are trying to win now, Edmonton has earned ten out of a possible 14 points during a 4-1-2 run over their last seven games. Success equals failure here, as the Oilers are now nine points out of the Battle of the NHL Basement. Edmonton has 57 points, while the Sabres have 48 and the Coyotes have 54, in the “race” to have the best shot at earning the first overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Edmonton has lost five of their last seven games in the Rocks.
Oilers vs Avalanche NHL Prediction: Reality will set in for the Avalanche at some point soon, as they are not going to make the NHL playoffs, but we expect Colorado to show some fight in this contest tonight.
