Some suggest that the Astros can’t keep up this pace with a 27th ranked .237 team batting average while striking out 9.1 times per game. The ‘Stros league leading 74 homeruns and the 7th most runs scored (233) suggests they can. A pitching staff that has the 7th best ERA at 3.53 and has allowed the 8th least runs against (192) also makes this squad legitimate.

The ‘Stros never say quit collective heart is also a huge advantage in the Lone Star State – this team is fun to watch for quite a few reasons. One of them is LHP Dallas Keuchel (6-1 ERA 1.76) who gets the call today. The Astros are 9-2 during his eleven starts this season. Though he tailed off slightly in May, one earned run during 24 innings was the good – 12 runs allowed over 20.2 innings was the bad – Keuchel was lights out during a complete game 3-0 shutout of the Chicago White Sox last Saturday. LHP Wei-Yin Chen (1-4 ERA 3.21) gets the call as Baltimore, who have lost five in a row, are trying to dig out of last place in the weak AL East. The O’s are currently five games behind the New York Yankees but they would be ten games behind Houston if they played in the AL West.
