Ranking The NHL Arenas

It goes without saying: Canadians love hockey. And hockey loves Canadians. The sport is both the most watched and most profitable sport in the country. The sport continues to grow in the United States and have some of the most passionate and tightknit communities. Hockey is great to watch on TV but is arguably the most exhilarating to watch live in the arena.

NHL Arenas Ranking

The fast-paced action, deafening cheers and booming hits all create an intense but incredibly fun atmosphere experienced only by attending an NHL game. We ranked all 30 NHL arenas by how great the experience is using a specific formula. [+]

  • a) Fan involvement: how loud and passionate the fans get. The fans ultimately make the most important criteria when attending any sporting event.
  • b) design (style): how well built the arena is both on the interior and exterior and this also factors in how good of a view fans get despite where they sit.
  • c) History: a house is not a home and an arena is just a building if it were not for the memories built by both the fans and the teams.
  • d) seating capacity: how many fans the arena can fit without losing quality.

NHL Calendar

The NHL season goes from October to early June and is one of the longest-spanning seasons in sports. Teams play 82 games but can be interrupted around January-February for the Winter Olympics (every four years). Like the NBA, the NHL rarely takes times off but the teams have a lighter schedule and don’t play as many back-to-backs due to the game’s grueling nature. Factors like amount of rest, distance traveled etc. affect the performance of each team and should be analyzed before betting.

NHL TV Schedule In Canada

Rogers Sportsnet made an historic deal in acquiring the exclusive broadcasting rights to the NHL with an unheard-of deal worth 5.2 billion until the 2025-2026 season. The Canadian telecom giant will be broadcasting games through their many channels namely Sportsnet, Sportsnet 360 and their regional counterparts (blackout restrictions apply). Otherwise, CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada will continue to air (mostly) Canadian team games every Saturday.
