Tampa Bay Lightning vs Ottawa Senators NHL Odds and Game Day Call

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Ottawa Senators NHL Odds and Game Day Call

Tampa Bay Lightning: The Bolts are making a playoff push

Suddenly the hottest team in hockey, Tampa Bay is finally near full team health as they make a push towards the top perch in the Atlantic Division standings. The Lightning have posted a solid 11-2-0 record in the New Year and they now trail Florida by just six points and they have a game in hand on the Panthers. The move has been very impressive given that Tampa Bay was three points out a playoff spot as they headed into the 2016 portion of their schedule. Playing just their third match in thirteen days, the Bolts are riding a three-game winning streak as they have posted wins against Toronto (1-0) Detroit (3-2) and Pittsburgh (6-3) since returning from the NHL All-Star break.

Ottawa Senators: Slowing sliding towards the NHL Eastern Conference cellar

Although they still have a little ways to go, to reach Toronto, Columbus and Buffalo, Ottawa is slowly sliding towards the basement in the Atlantic Division and overall in the Eastern Conference. The Senators have been slumping recently as they have posted a 6-9-0 record since the start of the New Year. Ottawa is 2-5-0 while getting outscored by a 28-23 margin over their last seven games. To their credit, Ottawa rebounded from a 7-2 shellacking by Edmonton as they raked the Maple Leafs 6-1 in their last contest on Saturday. Defense is a big problem in the Canada’s Capital as the Sens 3.11 goals against average is tied with the Blue Jackets as the worst mark in the league.

Senators vs Lightning NHL Prediction:  Both teams have their starting goalies in net tonight as Craig Anderson (21-17-4 GAA 2.91) faces Ben Bishop (21-14-3 GAA 2.0) in the netminders duel. Anderson has allowed 27 goals during his last nine starts while Bishop has been solid allowing just 14 goals over his last eight outings. These teams are fairly equal on offense as Ottawa is averaging 2.79 goals per game while Tampa Bay is just a tick behind with a 2.69 GPG average. Liking the hotter team, who are 5-0-3 in this series recently and have the better goaltender, we are backing the Bolts with a five-unit wager on the money line price posted on the NHL betting board. Editor Update: Tampa Bay pulled a fast one on us as Andrei Vasilevskiy is starting - not Bishop. We apologize for this error in reporting but, unfortunately, it's too late to change our prediction.
