Anaheim Ducks: 2015 Playoff hangover is a thing of the past
Whether due to a long run during the 2014-15 NHL regualr season and playoffs, or not, Anaheim stumbled out of the starting gate with a 15-15-6 record during the first three months of the season. The New Year has been a new beginning though as the Ducks are soaring as one of the hottest teams in hockey right now. Although they are still the second lowest scoring team in the league, with a tiny 2.28 goals per game average, Anaheim has tickled the twine with a lot more frequency lately. The SoCal Kids have been firing on all cylinders as they have outscored their opponents by a 37-25 margin en route to an 8-1-1 record over their last ten contests. Now migrating northwest, following four games in the east, the Ducks are playing the fifth of a seven-game road trip tonight. Anaheim lost in Pittsburgh (6-2) won in Philadelphia (4-1) and lost in Columbus (4-3 SO) prior to creeping past Chicago 3-2 in OT at the Madhouse on Madison in the Windy City on Saturday night.

Calgary had won three in a row, by a 14-8 margin, prior to a 4-1 loss in Arizona on Friday. Anaheim needs to leary of a young guns flurry early in this contest.
Anaheim vs Calgary NHL Call: The Ducks need to keep their foot on the gas as they sit third in the Pacific, one point back of San Jose and seven behind division leading Los Angeles. Although Calgary has games in hand on a few teams they are chasing - they need to leapfrog four squads in order to snag the final Wild Card berth in the West. Pursuing can be draining and then add in a torch and pitchfork bearing fan base, that’s calling for their Jack Adams award winning coach to be fired, and you get a messy situation in the Stampede City. Perennial thorn Ryan Getzlaf & Co. have won nine of the last eleven meetings, by a 43-26 margin, including a 5-3 home win in November and a tight 1-0 decision on December 29 in Calgary this season. Certain we will see a confident California Crew, though one that’s mindful of playing a wounded squad in their own backyard, it’s difficult to not like Anaheim here. While we are normally leary of “fish in a barrel” type battles, the Ducks are posted with a solid price when one considers the money line may exceed -300 for the rematch in SoCal six days from now.
