Dodgers vs Diamondbacks: NL West Division Preview and Prices
In a heated battle with San Francisco, due in large part to the Giants 3-11 record since the All-Star break, Los Angeles has climbed to within 1.5 games of first place in the National League West. The Dodgers also hold the top NL Wild Card spot as they have a two-game lead over St. Louis in that tight race. After the Diamondbacks scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning last night, the Dodgers erased a 7-3 deficit with a five-run outburst in the bottom half of the inning.
Despite a busy offseason, that was intended to build the Diamondbacks into a contender, it has been a very rough year in Arizona. The Dbacks have posted a 42-61 record and sit dead last in the NL West – a full 14 games behind the Giants. Pitching has been a huge problem all year as Arizona is sporting a 4.90 team ERA and they have given up 542 runs – both totals are second worst in the Majors. The offence hasn’t been much better as the Dbacks 459 runs scored is 16th overall.

MLB Wagering Advice: Los Angeles Holds an Advantage in the Mound Matchup Tonight
Acquired as free agent during the offseason, after Dodgers stud Zack Greinke signed with the Diamondbacks, LHP Scott Kazmir (9-3 ERA 4.36) toes the rubber for Los Angeles tonight. Though he hasn’t put up Greinke type numbers, Kazmir has been a decent addition and the Dodgers have won nine of his last eleven starts. Kazmir has been fairly sharp in July as he has allowed seven runs over 21 innings pitched. The twelve-year veteran hasn’t taken a personal loss since May 9, 2016.
At the other end of the spectrum RHP Braden Shipley (0-1 ERA 10.13) heads to the hill for Arizona. Shipley is making his second career start after allowing six runs over 5.1 innings pitched during a 7-2 loss to the light hitting Brewers in Milwaukee during his MLB debut on July 25. Taken as the 15th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, Shipley was 8-5 with a 3.70 ERA over 19 games with the Triple-A Reno Aces.
