UFC 253 comes packed with fireworks from both inside the octagon and the betting lines as middleweight king Israel Adesanya settles his grudge with the unbeaten destroyer, Paulo Costa. Both fighters are explosive strikers and with ill will all but guaranteeing heated exchanges. Co-headlining are red-hot fighters Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz facing off for the vacant light heavyweight title. Let's break down these fights and see which bets we can cash.
CFL Thursday Night Football Week 8
CFL Football Week 8 Games
I have never seen anything quite like the CFL season so far. It truly is a tale of two conferences. Every single team in the Eastern conference is on a losing streak of at least two games (Tiger-Cats remain unvictorious with an 0-6 record), and every team out West is on a winning streak, with the exception of the Roughriders. But, the Roughrider’s 2-4 record would put them in a tie for second place out East. Yikes. The NBA has discussed rule changes to balance the powers between the conferences. The CFL isn’t there yet. But this is a mess. Oh well, let’s make some money off the chaos on some Week-8 betting.

The CFL's got a mere two games on the schedule this weekend. So let’s give them our undivided attention, shall we? The Edmonton Eskimos already did what they were supposed to do and beat the Ottawa Redblacks in Ottawa. Elsewhere, we’ve got battle of the A’s, as the Argos travel to Montreal to play the Alouettes, and the Tiger-cats still hoping for their first win of the season as they host the Blue Bombers on Saturday’s game.
The Alouettes are playing the Argos in an epic battle of unstoppable juggernauts for who will control the East. Actually, this is a battle of a 3-4 team versus a 2-4 team to see who takes first place in the Eastern conference, because by default, there needs to be a conference leader. Uhg, this sucks.
Both of these teams are going into tonight limping their way through 2 game losing streaks. The Argos have dropped back to back games against the Roughriders and the Stampeders, while giving up an accommodating 79 points in doing so. Both of those spankings came at home too, by the way. Meanwhile, Montreal has lost two straight roadies in Ottawa and Winnipeg in far more respectable fashion. The lost by 5 to Ottawa and dropped a 40-41 heartbreaker last Thursday in Winny. So I can’t ethically use the word momentum, but Montreal has been playing better than Toronto, and they’re finally home. So I’m backing Montreal ce soir.
Prediction: Montreal Alouettes -8.5 (-110) at Sports Interaction
- Blue Bombers (3-4) at Tiger-Cats (2-4) (Saturday, August 12, 7:30 PM ET)
Is this Hamilton’s best chance to get in the W column this season? No, far from it. The Blue Bombers two losses this year have both come to winning teams (who, not surprisingly reside out west, by the way) with Ls to the currently-first-place Calgary Stampeders and the rock solid BC Lions. They are coming off two close wins to East teams, with a 41-40 win over Montreal, and a 33-30 W over the Redblacks, in Ottawa.
Whereas, The Tiger-cats are the Tiger-cats and are getting outscored by almost 20 points per outing this season. They’re a far inferior team to the Bombers, and the only way they win this weekend is if Winny throws up a stinker or massive let-down game. But even then. The Blue Bombers have proven they know how to win close games. All but one of their wins (against Toronto) have come by 3 points or less. Whereas Hamilton has no idea how to win. Zero. Even if they jump out to an early lead in front of a bemused Hamilton crowd, they won’t be able to hold it.
So I’d say take Blue Bombers to crush the Tiger-cats and the point spread. I think this one will be ugly by the second quarter, and the Cats will call Johnny Manziel by the 3rd.
Prediction: Winnipeg Blue Bombers +2 (-110) at Sports Interaction
