Washington Nationals: Looking to hold NL East lead
It's been a long and winding road but Washington has finally found their way to the top of the NL East division standings - albeit a slim half game lead over the Braves. The path has been a rocky one as the Nationals have had two four game winning and losing streaks over the last month. RHP Stephen Strasburg (6-5 ERA 3.06) who has won three of his last four starts, gets the call as he aims to avenge his shortest outing of the season - a 6-2 loss to the Braves on April 5 where he gave up six runs on eight hits over just 4.1 innings.
Atlanta Braves: Stumbling along as they struggle to find consistency
Back on May 26 Atlanta owned a three game led in the NL East and were sporting a decent 28-21 record. Fast forward to today and the Braves sit a half game back of the Nationals, they are on a 9-14 run and just two games over .500 with a 37-35 record. We have been suspicious of Atlanta all season as they have scored the second least runs and have recorded the fourth most strikeouts in the majors. LHP Mike Minor (2-4 ERA 4.42) starts tonight and he has been a gas can recently giving up 27 hits and 12 runs over 16 innings pitched.
