New York vs Arizona: Cards Defense is the Difference Maker Here
Cardinals blitz happy defense aims for Eli Manning
Though they lost some talent on defense during the offseason, Arizona didn't skip a beat as they opened NFL 2014 with a comeback win 18-17 over the Chargers on Monday Night Football. The Cardinals blitzed the Bolts and QB Phillip Rivers relentlessly and we expect more of the same versus an easy to rattle Eli Manning. On offense, QB Carson Palmer passed for 304 yards and two touchdowns while, at somewhat less then 100% healthy, RB Andre Eliington rushed for 53 yards on 13 carries. A similar effort from the offense will be more than enough to take down the G-Men - despite the west to east time zone change disadvantage.
New York Giants: Things are downright rotten in the Big Apple
While it's cautionary not to look at one game as your sole judgement of a team, New York looked abysmal in all facets of the game during their 35-14 beatdown in Detroit. QB Eli Manning picked up where he left off last season as he tossed two interceptions and was errant on many other pass attempts. Expect the Cardinals to hone in on WR Victor Cruz and RB Rashard Jennings as they are the only two big play starters on the Giants offense - which is offensive. The Giants defense isn't any better as they were torched for 417 total yards and four touchdowns. The G-Men aren't the worst team in the NFL - but they are certainly close to it.
