Arizona vs Anaheim: Coyotes Go Duck Hunting in California
Ducks haven't lost two straight contests this season
Earning at least a point in eleven of their 14 games, Anaheim is one of a three teams who haven't lost back to back contests yet this season. Tampa Bay and Nashville being the other two. The Ducks (10-3-1) dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Islanders on Wednesday but have earned 21 out of a possible 28 points to start their season. After missing two games with leg stiffness, Frederik Andersen will be back between the pipes tonight and that's a good thing as Anaheim is a rock solid 7-1 in Anderson's previous eight starts.
Coyotes roll into SoCal riding a modest two game winning streak
Arizona has some catching up to do if they hope to make the playoffs in the very tough Western Conference. After a 6-5 victory in Washington and a 3-2 win at home over Toronto, the Coyotes have pushed their record to 5-6-1 but sit 13th overall in the Wild West. The 'Yotes have scored more than three goals just twice in twelve games and they have been outscored by a 30-10 combined count in their six losses. Mike Smith (6-9) will start in net after he stopped 28 of 30 shots in the win over Toronto. Arizona sports a 1-4-1 road record. Ducks vs Coyotes Call: Anaheim swept the series 4-0 last year and covered in three wins. That said, you never know when the Mike Smith of the 2011-12 will show up (he was 38-18 that season) and we expect the Coyotes will bring a solid effort to the Duck Pond tonight. Bookmakers have Anaheim as thick chalk here but, while the line is fairly rich, we'll back the Ducks at home with 340 unit money line bet.
