Anaheim Ducks at Edmonton Oilers NHL Playoff Picks Today
Anaheim Ducks vs Edmonton Oilers Game 6
Game 5 showed exactly why the NHL Playoffs are the hottest sports event right now. The Anaheim Ducks became only the second NHL team to come back from a three-goal deficit in the final three-and-a-half minutes of the game and they won it all in double overtime adding yet another classic to what has been a rollercoaster postseason. The Ducks outshot the Oilers the entire game but couldn't beat Cam Talbot until the final moments when they pulled goalie John Gibson to have an extra attacker proving that they can overcome incredible odds.
Series: Ducks lead 3-2
Anaheim Ducks
Simply put: the Ducks showed they had the hearts of champions and got a few lucky bounces to become one win closer to their second conference finals in three seasons. The Ducks dominated the Oilers for most of the game outshooting them 64 to 38 and continuing to control the faceoff circle winning 60% of their draws. Ryan Getzlaf continued to be a beast from the get-go and barring a few clumsy penalties and turnovers, the Ducks played a near-perfect game and will look to replicate this in Edmonton.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers knew they missed a big opportunity to close off the Ducks but giving up 64 shots is unacceptable even when Talbot channeled his inner Dominik Hasek and stopped everything until the final minutes. Since game 1, the Oilers have been controlled by the Ducks and if it weren't for a 5-on-3 and some chance takeaways, this would've been a much different game. They'll need to find a way to slow down Getzlaf and utilize their breakaway transition style in a "win or go home" scenario back in the Rogers Place.
The Winner
It's tough to count out the Oilers who despite all their inconsistencies and errors continue to be a prolific team who constantly find ways to score on the Ducks. But the older grittier boys of Anaheim appear to have Edmonton's number and their unlikely comeback may have been the straw that broke Edmonton's back.
The Ducks are a slight underdog and should be a steal of a bet as they will close out the series and beat the Oilers in Edmonton making a return trip to the conference finals.
