Both fighters are explosive strikers and with ill will all but guaranteeing heated exchanges. Co-headlining are red-hot fighters Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz facing off for the vacant light heavyweight title. Let's break down these fights and see which bets we can cash.
CFL Thursday Night Football Week 15
CFL Football Thursday Games
This marks the Week of 15 on the old Road to the Grey Cup. That means we are at the three-quarter point of the season. What have we learned through 75% of the regular season? The east sucks. Basically. We have the Toronto Argonauts in the first place, with a six and seven record, the same record as the BC Lions who are in the last place in the Western Conference.

Those Argos have the opportunity to cement their place as the conference leaders, because they've won in a standing two straight games, because everybody else in the Eastern conference Lost last week… Except the Hamilton Tiger-cats who have won two out of three straight games and are no longer in last place. It's not great, but it's entertaining.
Let's take a look at this week’s action.
- The Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-6) at The Ottawa Redblacks (5-8) (Friday, September 29 at 7 PM)
Ottawa very much needs this win. They're about to embark on a very tough stretch. Two out of their next three games are on the road, and two out of three games are against Western Conference teams. Even if they are the worst two teams in the West, they are both .500 football teams. Which is more than you can say for the competition they face in their own conference.
Meanwhile, the Roughriders are struggling a little bit, losing two out of their last three games. Even though their matchup last week with the 1st place Calgary Stampeders was a battle. They still need to win this week for playoff positioning.
Prediction: Ottawa Redblacks
- The Montreal Alouettes (3-10) at The Calgary Stampeders (11-1-1) (Friday, September 29 at 9:30 PM)
This is funny. This is probably literally the most statistically lopsided matchup of the entire year. You have the hottest team in the CFL playing against the coldest team in the CFL. The hotter team plays in a more competitive conference, has beaten better competition, and is playing at home. If you like longshots, you should be all about Montreal this weekend. Now, whether or not that's a smart bet, that remains to be seen.
I just can't get on board with a Hail Mary underdog of the year bet on Montreal. Once again, Calgary one another close game last weekend. They know how to win. Period. Whereas Montreal has long since forgotten how to win. It’s not terribly imaginative, but I predict Montréal's losing streak will go to seven, and Calgary will round their winning streak out to an even 10 games.
Prediction: The Calgary Stampeders
- The Toronto Argonauts (6-7) at The Hamilton Tiger-cats (3-9) (Saturday, September 30 at 6:30 PM)
Try to figure out this Hamilton Tiger-cats team. I dare you. I double dare you. I'll wait. They start out zero and nine, then actually enter the most difficult part of their season coaching moves, and workouts with Johnny Manzeil, just to kick them while they're down. However, they have won two of their last three games, and one of those wins was a thrilling upset on the road against a Western Conference team, in the BC Lions. Mind-blowing.
So what does that mean? It means they are one of two teams in the Eastern conference play impassable football right now. But they are playing the other team in the East currently playing passable football right now. They have won back-to-back games, and are a single tantalizing game below. 500. They haven't been at .500 since they were 3-3. You may recall, these two teams met in Hamilton a few weeks ago, with Hamilton picking up the win. This is a revenge game, but I am still picking Hamilton to win, in probably the best game of the weekend.
Prediction: Hamilton Tiger-cats
- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (9-3) at The Edmonton Eskimos (7-5) (Saturday, September 30 at 9:30 PM)
In the final game of the weekend, we have a battle between two Western Conference teams. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are looking to be the next team that kicks the Eskimos in the ribs. Edmonton has lost five straight games, after starting the season by winning their first seven games. You could say it has been downright… Polar. For the Eskimos. Get it? I'm not apologizing for that. I am who I am.
To be perfectly fair, every one of those losses was either against a home team, or a. 500 team, or both. But still, this is the team that was in Grey Cup conversations a little more than a month ago. I think they will get back on track this weekend at home.
Prediction: The Edmonton Eskimos
