UFC 253 comes packed with fireworks from both inside the octagon and the betting lines as middleweight king Israel Adesanya settles his grudge with the unbeaten destroyer, Paulo Costa. Both fighters are explosive strikers and with ill will all but guaranteeing heated exchanges. Co-headlining are red-hot fighters Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz facing off for the vacant light heavyweight title. Let's break down these fights and see which bets we can cash.
CFL Thursday Night Football Week 6
CFL Football Thursday Games
Week 5 was a mixed bag for betting. There was a push, two underdogs beat the spread but all five favourites won on the money line. The Stampeders looked like their old selves after demolishing the Saskatchewan Roughriders at home and now get another favourable matchup against the Tiger-Cats. The Eskimos and Lions rematch from week 1 in what could be the game of the week while Argos' defensive coordinator Corey Chamblin is making his first return to Saskatchewan since he was fired as their head coach in 2015.
CFL Online Betting Picks Today
The CFL's favourites are starting to emerge. The Stampeders are finally rolling after a rough first few weeks and they get what is probably the most lopsided game of the season, the winless Tiger-Cats at home. It sounds too easy but a big spread of 13.5 seems too confident especially given the Tiger-Cats' propensity to play the Stampeders close. With the improvement they showed last week, this could be a Ticats team that will make the Stampeders work for those points. They'll beat that disrespectful spread.
- Montreal Alouettes (2-3) at Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-2) (Thursday, July 27, 8:30 PM ET)
The Alouettes's comeback was too little too late. Montreal's defense kept the Redblacks at bay limiting them to a touchdown in the second half but Darian Durant for all the 452 yards he threw couldn't quite find the end zone. The Als have had it with close losses as underdogs. The Bombers' defense was exposed by a resurgent Travis Lulay and Durant is finding chemistry with the offense. This could be the letdown spot for the Bombers but with this might come down to the wire. Lean the dogs.
Prediction: Montreal Alouettes +3.5 (-115) at Sports Interaction
- BC Lions (4-1) at Edmonton Eskimos (4-0) (Friday, July 28, 9:30 PM ET)
The Lions have the best QB tandem as Lulay showed he can still flat-out ball. The Eskimos defense won't be as easy pickings as the Bombers having the top passing defense but are deadlast against the run. Jeremiah Johnson will have a field day and rake in sweet fantasy points but even without Adarius Bowman, Mike Reilly and the Eskimos passing game light it up. They'll also be eager to prove their first meeting, a three-point win, was not a fluke. Eskimos pull off one in high-scoring fashion.
Prediction: Edmonton Eskimos (-125) at Sports Interaction
- Toronto Argonauts (3-2) at Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-3) (Saturday, July 29, 6:30 PM ET)
Toronto was decimated by injuries to their defense namely CFL sack leader Victor Butler. And that's just the beginning. The offense also lost key receivers. Ricky Ray has been racking up yards but is going against the second-best passing defense. The Riders also have a solid offense and if they give Kevin Glenn enough time, he can give them a nice home victory. Corey Chamblin will be hungry to earn sweet revenge against his old team but with the Argos' passing defense compromised, the Riders edge this one.
Prediction: Saskatchewan Roughriders -3.0 (-110) at Sports Interaction
- Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-4) at Calgary Stampeders (3-1-1) (Saturday, July 29, 9:30 PM ET)
The sorry Tiger-Cats are the only winless CFL team but have injuries as an excuse. They're facing the offensive juggernaut that is the Stampeders. In the McMahon Stadium. With by far the worst passing defense in the league. This has the recipe for a blowout but dating back to 2014, the Tiger-Cats have not lost to Calgary by more than 10 points. Albeit their teams there were better, but God knows if garbage time or a more lackadaisical approach from the home team could make this closer than a blowout.
Prediction: Hamilton Tiger-Cats +13.5 (-115) at Sports Interaction
People talk about parity in the NFL. The CFL is the true model of parity in pro sports. There has been a different champion each of the last seven seasons including a true underdog story from the Ottawa Redblacks last year. No lead is safe in the CFL and upsets are aplenty. Online sportsbooks open to Canada have focused fan groups constantly playing thanks to the wealth of betting options. The generous signup bonuses of up to $200 might be another reason too.
