UFC 253 comes packed with fireworks from both inside the octagon and the betting lines as middleweight king Israel Adesanya settles his grudge with the unbeaten destroyer, Paulo Costa. Both fighters are explosive strikers and with ill will all but guaranteeing heated exchanges. Co-headlining are red-hot fighters Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz facing off for the vacant light heavyweight title. Let's break down these fights and see which bets we can cash.
CFL Thursday Night Football Week 9
CFL Football Week 9 Games
The CFL’s standings are still hilariously lopsided. The worst record in the West would still get you a tie for first in the East. The West has a team that hasn’t lost yet in Edmonton, while the East has a team that hasn’t won yet in Hamilton. Last week unfolded nearly exactly as we predicted. The Alouettes beat the Argos for first place in the East (called it), The Blue Bombers beat up the Tiger-cats (called it) and the Lions had a rough ride in Saskatchewan. Although, I thought it would be way closer. Here’s a look at this week’s action.

it's going to a be a fun weekend of CFL fotoball. Here's what we see happening.
- Ottawa Redblacks (1-6) at Hamilton Tiger-cats (0-7) (Friday, August 18, 7:30 PM ET)
What can you say about a game between two teams that are a combined 1-13? Somebody literally has to win this game. I don’t care what anybody says. These games between cellar dwellers are the most fun to bet on. You need to root through the garbage to find something that can convince you that either of these teams can win a game. Actually, I don’t have to search that far. Ottawa has looked much better in all their losses than Hamilton has in their losing efforts. Ottawa is losing heartbreakers, with a touchdown loss to Edmonton, a field goal loss to Winnipeg, and 4 points loss to the Argos. They’re in these games. Whereas the Tiger-cats have lost their last 3 games by 27, 5 and 59 points.
Last week I asked if that game was their best chance to win a game all year. The answer was a decisive no. But this week is their best chance. They have the Argo's next game, and nothing but road games and Western Conference teams the rest of the year. They have to win this week. And they won't.
Prediction: Ottawa Redblacks -2 (-111) at at Sports Interaction
- Calgary Stampeders (5-1) at BC Lions (5-3) (Friday, August 18, 10:30 PM ET)
Fortunately, they have saved the only battle between above-500 teams for Friday night, in the nightcap. The Lions are coming off a road loss against the Roughriders, while the Stamps have won their last 3 and are an impressive 2-1 on the road this season.
That appears to mean the momentum is in Calgary’s favour. But you need to factor in the fact that their last 3 games have all been at home and two of them were against East teams… one of which was the Tiger-cats. So the momentum is pretty even. If anything, I’d say Calgary may have a false sense of security. But now they’re going into BC, playing a good team that is coming off of a loss. Calgary has looked great, but I don’t see them winning this game.
Prediction: BC Lions +3.5 (-111) at Sports Interaction
The Argos are free falling just a little bit right now. It seems like forever ago they had a winning record at 3-1 and looked poised to run away with the East. Less than a month later, they’ve dropped 3 in a row to the Roughriders, the Stampeders, and the Alouettes last week. You can argue that they were 3 tough games, 2 against Western conference teams and the other a road game. But sorry, a Grey Cup hopeful should be able to win at least one of those home games.
They need to right the ship with a rematch against the Argos, and I predict they will in a good game. Montreal hasn’t won a game all year on the road. In fact, the entire Eastern Conference combined has only won one road game all year. Who won it? Toronto.
Prediction: Toronto Argonauts -3 (-111) at Sports Interaction
