BET THE RAPTORS (-116) AT BET365. The Raps are coming off two heart-wrenching losses to last year’s NBA finalists. So, they’re happy to be playing an awful Denver team. The Nugs are at home. But they’re bad. And they’re bad because they have to play Emmanuel Mudiay to teach him the game. The 20-year-old has seemingly taken a step back from his rookie season. But Denver is all-in on him, and have given him the second most minutes on the entire team this year. Yet, the most assists he’s produced all year was 7, back on opening night. Also, Denver is giving up a generous 108 points per game. This is just the rebound game the Raptors need.
The San Antonio Spurs @ The LA Lakers Prediction
BET THE SPURS (-111) AT BET365. This is a big test for the young Lakers, playing the old Spurs. The Lakers have been fun and promising, but they’re still giving up 108 points a game, tied for 5th most in the NBA. They are scoring though. And how. They’re incredibly the second highest scoring team in the NBA right now, behind the Golden State Monstars. But allow me to burst the Laker bandwagon bubble: Yes, they lit up the Warriors and held them below 100 in doing so. But, they haven’t beaten a quality team since then. They haven’t really played one either. But they’re about to. Their next 5 games are the Spurs, Bulls, Thunder, then a home-and-home series against the same Warriors team they pissed off to start the year. If they’re still above .500 this time next week, I’ll be amazed. It’s unlikely, and they’ll probably start their slide tonight against the Spurs.
The Detroit Pistons @ Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction
BET THE CAVALIERS (-111) AT BET365. Say what you want about the Pistons. Stan Van has them playing D. They’re only giving up 97 points a game, good enough for 5th best in the NBA. Sadly, they’re only scoring 98. This team has to work very, very hard to win and score against anyone. Fortunately, going into this game, Cleveland hasn’t found it’s defensive footing, and they’re really average defensively. But playing the Pistons, they don’t have to be great. Also, The Pistons have been just awful on the road. They’re not going into the Champs’ house tonight and winning. Especially with The Cavaliers coming off a loss.
The Golden State Warriors @ The Boston Celtics Prediction
BET THE WARRIORS (-111) AT BET365. What are the odds that the Celtics figure it out defensively tonight against the Warriors? Not good. They’re showing some signs. They’ve held 2 of their last 3 opponents below 100 points. But they let the awful Pelicans score 106. On the other side, Golden State looks to be starting to get as good as we feared. Since an off-night against the Lakers, they have won 5 straight, and scored at least 116 in each game. Thompson, Curry, and Durant are starting to mesh and scare the hell out of us. They’re currently on a 4-game east coast road trip (and won game 1 against the Raptors), so they are vulnerable-ish to the Celtics. And IT vs Chef Curry will be tons of fun. But the Celtics seem ill-equipped to deal with the Warriors this early in the season. #Team1 @ #Team2 Prediction 2016
The Brooklyn Nets @ The OKC Thunder Prediction
BET THE THUNDER (-111) AT BET365. The Thunder stopped the bleeding of a 4 game losing streak, with an emotional home win against James Harden and the Rockets. So far this year, OKC has been Westbrook and whoever else can show up that game. I really can’t imagine them winning a single game where he struggles. Good thing they’re playing the Nets at home. They’re bad and playing even worse. They’ve given up 125 and 127 points in their last 2 games respectively. Overall, they’re 3rd worst in the NBA at the defensive end, and only 1 - 5 on the road this year. So all signs point to an OKC win. They may take Brooklyn for granted to start the game. But they know they’re not good enough to turn it on at will.
