Who Will Win The NCAA Basketball Tournament 2017?

The NCAA Tournament Draws Near...

March Madness starts next month, and while anything can still happen, we're going to take a look at the odds to win it all and actual picks that have value. It's still early, so there's a lot of value to be found, barring any significant injuries down the stretch. Records are still changing, and Gonzaga is still surprising, and it looks like it will hold. Could they be a decent play then at their current price. Let's take a look at the different odds offered at our different books, because we can find value simply from there.

At this point in time, William Hill, and Sports Interaction (seen above) have Gonzaga as favorites, and with good reason. They surprised everyone with their so far undefeated record. If you are looking to bet on a big name school like Duke or North Carolina, it would be best to go with William Hill, as they currently offer both at +1000, as opposed to +800 at Sports Interaction. 

Who Looks Good? Who Looks Bad?

It took a while, but the Zags are on top of the rankings and either have the best, or tied for best odds to win the championship. Sure, they come from a subpar conference, but it means little when you keep winning. It's all you can do. They are a perfect 4-0 against ranked teams as well, so they have earned their top spot. UCLA is close in terms of odds, and could be a good choice as well, but as we all know it's not offense that wins championships. They are averaging 91.9 PPG, but unless they can keep teams off the board, they won't take it all the way. The teams too look at are Gonzaga, UCLA, Kansas, and Louisville. These teams are either ranked high with good value, or are being hit by sharps and still have value. Duke and North Carolina could also make a run, but the value on big name teams isn't there, but could be worth a shot if they get them at +1100 or higher.

Out of the underdogs, there isn't much talent to be able to take a team all the way through this strenuous tournament. There are 2 though, which have great odds for their value. The Saint Mary's Gaels at +12500 is a steal, because this team at least has something going for them, and that's all it takes to get deep into a tournament. A few lucky bounces in a few games is all it'll take. They are a slow paced team, with strength on defense: something that is crucial to get deep in March. They excel in scoring off assists also, which is another key of a healthy team.

Another team to look at is Baylor at +3000. A lot of sharps are hitting them (along with Louisville), and at +3000, it's still a lot of value. They aren't a big name school, which explains why the public is overlooking them, but can produce on offense. It might not get them to that trophy, but they will surprise and go further than anyone suspected.
