Anaheim Ducks vs Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Odds and Game Day Forecast
Anaheim Ducks: Putting early season struggles behind them
Undoubtedly the most underachieving squad through the first half of the 2015-16 NHL season, Anaheim has started to click recently. The Ducks were a disaster as they went 1-7-2 in October before posting a decent 8-4-3 record in November. A light December schedule was a mixed bag for Anaheim as they recorded a 6-4-1 record to close out 2015. All in all, the Ducks are back in the playoff race and they have earned at least one point during their seven of their last eight matches. Goaltender John Gibson (8-4-2 GAA 1.63) has been a huge key to the Ducks revival as he is 4-0-0, with two shutouts and just three goals allowed, in his last four starts. Anaheim last played on Sunday when they posted a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets on their home ice at the Duck Pond.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Still a work in progress but they are on an upswing
Mirror image to Anaheim, Toronto was a trainwreck out of the starting gate as they also posted a 1-7-2 record during the first month of the season. The Maple Leafs were better in November (7-4-3) and December (6-4-2) but their 15-15-7 overall mark has Toronto seven points out of a Wild Card playoff position in the NHL Eastern Conference. The Leafs have been hot, heading into and out of the Christmas break, as they earned at least one point (7-2-2) in nine of their last eleven games. Improved goaltending has been a key in Toronto as Jonathan Bernier (5-10-3 GAA 3.09) is 5-2-0 during his last seven starts. The Buds are riding a mini two game-winning streak and they last played on Saturday when they recorded an impressive 4-1 win at home over the St. Louis Blues.
