Ducks rule the NHL Presidents’ Trophy race top perch
March had its ups and downs for the Ducks as they posted a 10-5 record that came in five streaks of wins and loses. Anaheim closed out the month with three straight road wins after they had fallen 7-2 in New York and 5-3 in Columbus to open a five game run away from the Honda Center. The Ducks will be rested as they haven't played since a 2-1 win vs the Devils in New Jersey on Sunday.
Oilers recent winning run isn’t all that slick in the bigger picture
As one of the hotter teams in the league, Edmonton is racking up points when they should be easing off the gas. The Oilers have won three straight, by a 12-4 margin, and have earned 12 of a possible 16 points over their last eight games. The hot streak lessens the Oilers draft lottery odds as they appear headed to a 28th place finish and an 11.5% shot at landing the first overall draft selection.
Edmonton vs Anaheim Analysis: We have never understood teams winning their way out of top draft choice chances. Not saying we advocate tanking but if the path to the projected “Next One” is laid out for them – shouldn’t the Oilers have followed it?
