Arizona vs San Francisco: Cardinals and 49ers NFL Week 3 Duel in the Desert
Arizona Cardinals: Impressive on both sides of the ball early
While the talent level hasn’t been very high, Arizona is off to 2-0 start as the Cardinals crushed the New Orleans Saints 31-19 during their home opener and then bashed the Chicago Bears 48-23 at Soldier Field last Sunday. Recovered from the Week Six ALC injury he suffered in 2014, QB Carson Palmer has been on fire with 492 passing yards and a 7:1 touchdown to interception ratio. Palmer needed just 185 passing yards to register four TD’s versus the Bears after he passed for 307 yards and three TD’s vs the Saints. The Cards are playing a solid bend - don't break style on defense.
San Francisco 49ers: After a solid Week One effort - SF gets blitzed in the Steel City
Feeling pretty good after they manhandled the Minnesota Vikings 20-3 during their home opener under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, San Francisco went on the road and got whacked 43-18 by an angry bunch of Steelers last Sunday. The second-coming of Frank Gore party has been put on hold as sophomore RB Carlos Hyde followed his 182 total yards and two TD effort in Week One with a meager 61 total yards effort in the Steel City. If he can stay healthy, we expect Hyde to fall somewhere in the middle of the results of his first two outings. The Niners are in tough here.
49ers vs Cardinals NFL Week 3 Call: Arizona is full marks for both of their wins – despite being against inferior talent. They get another team in that inferior category as the 49ers are in the midst of a major rebuild. With Palmer healthy, the Cardinals won their Week 3 battle with the 49ers by a 23-14 margin last year. With Palmer out, the Cardinals lost 20-17 in San Francisco during Week 17 action. Though fairly ancient history, given how much both of these teams have changed recently, the Niners are 10-2 in this series dating back to the 2009 NFL season. We are backing Arizona with a 500 unit wager on the -2.5 (-222) Alternate Spread line posted at SportsInteraction.
