Baltimore Ravens: Off to their worst start in franchise history
Normally strong out of the starting gate, Baltimore went 13-5 during the first three weeks of their previous six seasons, the Ravens are facing their first 0-4 start in franchise history. Not getting any favors from the schedule makers, Baltimore is playing on the road for the third time this season. That aside, defense is a major issue as the Ravens have been outscored 84-70. After coming back from a 14-0 halftime deficit vs Cincinnati last weekend, Baltimore let a 24-21 fourth quarter lead slip away as the Bengals put together a six-play 80 yard drive in the final four minutes to escape with a 28-24 win. Injuries to TE Crockett Gillmore and T Eugene Monroe are concerns here.
Pittsburgh Steelers: 2-1 season start is tempered by the loss of Roethlisberger
Following their 28-21 Week One loss versus New England, Pittsburgh has rebounded with a 43-18 thrashing of San Francisco and a 12-6 snoozefest versus St. Louis. The victory over the Rams came with a huge cost as QB Ben Roethlisberger suffered a knee injury that will keep him out of action for the next four to six weeks – with the latter being more likely. While we can’t believe he is still in the NFL, Michael Vick will start in place of Big Ben under center tonight. With Vick as their pivot, the running game will be a key focus for defenses when they play Steelers moving forward.
Steelers vs Ravens NFL Week 4 Prediction: Despite allowing just 24 points during their last two contests, the second-coming of the Steel Curtain isn’t happening anytime soon in Pittsburgh. Baltimore has been brutal on pass defense (29th) but their 252 total rushing yards allowed is seventh best in the NFL and they are the more desperate team in this contest.
