Canada vs. Sweden: Sochi 2014 Gold Medal Game Opening Odds
Team Canada: Back-to-back Gold is within reach
After a fast paced and high spirited 1-0 victory over the USA on Friday, that was everything we expect when these two rivals meet, Team Canada is 60 minutes away from earning back-to-back Olympic Hockey Gold. Canadian goaltender Carey Price was extremely solid against the USA squad as he stopped all 31 shots he faced. Dallas Stars winger Jamie Benn scored 1:41 minutes into the second period and that proved to be the winner as Canada put on an amazing display of team unity and totally smothered a tenacious USA squad.
Team Sweden: IIHF World #1 squad still rolling despite injuries
Despite injuries to stars Henrik Zetterberg, Henrik Sedin and Johan Franzen, the IIHF World #1 ranked Team Sweden will play in the Gold Medal on Sunday. The Swedes, who were out-shot 26-25 by a gutsy and equally shorthanded Finland squad, scored two straight second period goals after Olli Jokinen (Winnipeg Jets) gave the Fins an early 1-0 lead. Swedes all-world goalie Henrik "King" Lundqvist, who is one of the favorites to win the tournament MVP award, stopped 25 of 26 shots will need to be at his best against Canada on Sunday.
