Cardinals Flying Similar Path to the MLB Playoffs
As was the case last season, the St. Louis Cardinals look to be heading towards a Wild Card spot as their only door to the 2012 MLB Playoffs. Being as they are the defending World Series Champions, that path worked out pretty good last year. While we don't see the Cardinals catching the Big Red Machine over in Cincinnati, there's lots of baseball still to be played and the Cards are in the thick of the Wild Card race.

Travel back in time to this date in the 2011 MLB season and you would land in a happier time in Philadelphia. That's because the Phillies were flying as they reigned supreme at the top of the Majors with a 77-41 record and had a bulging 7.5 game lead on the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. That was last year. The here and now has the Phillies floundering at double digits below .500 and dead last in their division.
