Houston Astros: Still regrouping from their first major stumble
Writing one of the best success stories during the first half of the 2015 MLB season Houston is looking to move past their first streak of adversity. The Astros went into a season high seven game losing skid prior to winning two of three bizarre battles versus Seattle at home during the weekend. Sporting the second best ERA in the American League, behind Oakland Athletics stud Sonny Grey (1.60 ERA) LHP Dallas Keuchel (7-2 ERA 1.90) heads to the hill for Houston.
Colorado Rockies: Offense wishes a struggling pitching staff would catch up in Denver
Though we still haven’t reached the halfway point, Colorado is already looking at a lost season. While teams like Milwaukee and Philadelphia can point to problems across the board – the Rockies pitching staff carries most of the futility load in Colorado. The Rockies offense is averaging 4.3 runs per game but their pitchers as sporting a league worst 4.69 ERA. Colorado closed May on a 7-1 roll but they have stumbled to a 6-8 record in June including a 2-5 mark vs the lowly Miami Marlins.
Astros vs Rockies MLB Prediction: The ‘Stros are 9-4 when Keuchel starts but his run support in the losses has been low at two runs per game. Houston sandwiched an 8-1 loss with 10-0 and 13-0 wins versus Seattle over the weekend. Colorado has been outscored by a 20-8 margin over their last five games. On the other side of the coin, the Rockies last six wins have been by a combined 42-21 count.
