Dallas Stars: Overall NHL leaders continue to pile up points
Steamrolling along, the Stars went 9-2-0 in October and 10-3-0 in November, Dallas has earned eight of twelve possible points in December so far. Sitting with a 22-6-2 overall record has the Stars are eight points clear of Chicago in Central Division and six points ahead of Los Angeles in the race for first overall in the NHL Western Conference. Even after getting blanked by the Blues, Dallas still leads the NHL in scoring as they are averaging 3.37 goals per game. The Stars defense is middle of the pack as their 2.60 goals allowed per game is tied with Nashville for 16th overall.
Columbus Blue Jackets: In tough playing back-to-back nights without their starting goalie
Displaying grit and determination, after they opened with a dismal 2-10-0 season start, Columbus played some decent hockey in November as the Blue Jackets posted an 8-5-0 record last month. Though they have been earning points, wins have been fleeting in December as Columbus is 1-3-3 through seven games this month. Following a hard fought 2-1 loss, at home to Tampa Bay last night, Columbus is playing on back-to-back nights with travel as they roll into the Lone Star State. The Blue Jackets are 13 points out of a playoff spot in the NHL Eastern Conference.
Dallas vs Columbus NHL Call: A fairly important dynamic works in one teams favor and against the other here. Dallas enters action fresh off two rest and the Stars are 6-1-1 in that situation so far this season. Playing on back-to-back nights has not be kind to Columbus as they 3-5-0 and four of the five losses were on the road. Filling in for Sergei Bobrovsky, who is sidelined with a groin injury, Curtis McElhinney (0-5-2 GAA 3.11) is looking for his win of the season as he get the call in net for Columbus tonight.
