Flames vs Canucks: West Coast Contest Closes NHL Regular Season
Flames farmhands show promise down the stretch
Knowing their playoff chances were slim at best coming out of the Sochi Winter Olympic break, the Calgary Flames have been playing with a patch-work roster for the better part of two months. Young talent, such as Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau, has littered the Calgary roster and they have made the most of their opportunities. The Flames have won seven of eleven games and they continue to battle hard every night.
Vancouver Canucks: Train wreck season limps to a close on the coast
Talk about your train wrecks - the Vancouver Canucks are one massive pile up. Dysfunctional as they come in pro sports, the Canucks are sporting a 35-35-11 record and will miss the NHL playoffs for the first time since the 2007-08 season. Their 35 wins is the lowest non-lockout season total since the Canucks posted 30 wins back in 2000. Vancouver has lost six of seven contests and have looked largely disinterested in doing so.
