New Orleans Saints vs Detroit Lions: NFL Week 15 Battle in the Bayou
New Orleans Saints: Possibly playing out the end of era
Still not fully recovered from the 2012 “Bountygate” fiasco, the Sean Payton/Drew Brees era may be coming to close as the 2015 NFL season clicks down. Although he still has two years remaining on his very lucrative contract, rumors abound that Payton, the most successful head coach (91-60) in Saints history, could be “traded” during the offseason. In the here and now, following a skid of four straight losses, by a combined 146-86 margin, New Orleans enters this contest fresh off a 24-17 win in Tampa Bay over the Buccaneers last weekend. Due in part to their injured hobbled 28th ranked rushing attack, it'll be bombs away for Drew Brees & Crew under the Big Top in the Bayou.
Detroit Lions: Dismal 1-7 start doomed the Cats season in the Motor City
One has to wonder about the Lions mindset as they roll into the Bayou tonight. Despite a disastrous 1-7 season start, Detroit managed to pull things together as they won three contests by a 81-43 margin and actually had a slight playoff pulse. Following a 27-23 loss to Green Bay, thanks to a QB Aaron Rodgers to TE Richards Rodgers Hail Mary TD pass with no time left on the clock, the Lions season officially flatlined.
