Panthers vs Eagles NFL 2014 Week 10 Monday Night Football Forecast
Philadelphia Eagles: Need to keep pace with Dallas
NFL fans in London were treated to a blowout as Dallas (7-3) jacked up Jacksonville 31-17 in the third and final International Series game on Sunday. The Cowboys victory moves them one win ahead of Philadelphia (6-2) in the fight for first in the NFC East that's become a two-horse race. The Eagles (6-2) have two games in hand counting match tonight. After letting their Week 8 clash with the Cardinals slip away late, the Eagles posted an impressive 31-12 win over the Texans in Houston last week. Much maligned QB Mark Sanchez stepped in to replace injured starter Nick Foles in the first quarter and he will get the start tonight.
Carolina Panthers: Still in the plodding playoff race in the NFC South
On the bad news front, Carolina is 3-5-1 and they have lost three straight games by a combined 79-36 count. The good news is the Panthers play in the crazy NFC South where they are just one win behind the 4-5 New Orleans Saints. The Panthers defense, which was their calling card during a 12-4 run last season, has all but disappeared as they are giving up 26.2 points per game. Carolina gave up 86.9 rushing yards per game last year - that number has ballooned to 131.9 this season. That makes things tough on the Cats offense that's scoring just 19.6 PPG and is largely void of solid playmakers after QB Cam Newton and TE Greg Olsen.
Philadelphia vs Carolina Call: Philadelphia has won eight straight home games (four this season) as their last defeat at The Linc was a 15-7 loss to the NY Giants on October 27, 2013. Philly avenged that loss with a 27-0 blowout of the G-Men in Week 6 which was the Eagles last home game. As long as Sanchez can successfully hand the ball off to the Eagles 3-headed RB Monster (McCoy, Polk and Sproles) Philadelphia will be fine here. It helps that Sanchez is being mentored by Chip Kelly, who is just two years removed from his NCAA coaching gig in Oregon, and that stud LG Evan Mathis will be back on the O-Line for Philly tonight. Not thrilled laying a TD with Sanchez - even though this will be the Shady Show, or impressed by the Eagles money line, we'll lay 500 units on the -3 (-233) Alternate Spread price posted at SportsInteraction.
