REDBLACKS vs Tiger-Cats: Familiar foes face off in Ottawa
Squaring off for the third time in four weeks - Ottawa and Hamilton are more than familiar with each other. Due to the quirky nature of the CFL schedule makers, the REDBLACKS and Tiger-Cats clashed during home-and-home meetings to open and close their season series - along with their respective CFL regular season schedules. In those contests, Hamilton dropped a 12-6 defensive struggle at home in Week 19 and then the Cats were crushed 44-28 in Ottawa during Week 20. The REDBLACKS victories secured Ottawa a first round playoff bye while the Tiger-Cats won 25-22 on a last second field goal at home versus the Toronto Argonauts during semi-final playoff action last weekend. CFL MOP nominee QB Henry "Smilin' Hank" Burris gives Ottawa an edge here.
Eskimos vs Stampeders: Canadian Football League West Final Battle of Alberta Act II
Following a 43-18 meltdown in Calgary, during the CFL West Final last season, the Eskimos get another crack at the Stampeders – on their home turf at Commonwealth Stadium this time around. The Eskimos have already exercised some demons this year as they snapped a 12-game losing skid as they were 2-1 versus the Stampeders during the regular season. Edmonton won the last two meetings with 27-16 and 15-11 victories while the Stamps lone win was a 16-7 decision during the annual Labor Day tilt. With all due respect to the East finalists, this contest may be better than the Grey Cup game itself as the winner here will be a prohibitive favorite on CFL Championship Sunday.
