Count us in the crowd that was somewhat skeptical of the Cubs lofty third overall favorite odds to win the National League Pennant back in March. Playing fairly mediocre, with a 15-15 record back on May 10, Chicago is on a 7-2 recent run and they have moved to within four games of the NL Central leading Cardinals. Chicago is the only team in the Majors with an equal amount of runs for and runs against with 166 of each. We see them adding a bunch to the "runs for" total tonight.

Following four straight sub .500 seasons (300-348) San Diego (20-21) has been flirting with an even record all season. Getting over and staying over the hump has been easier said than done though as the Padres have posted a 9-9 record during the month of May. That run includes a 3-6 recent record where the low-mark was three game sweep by the Nationals by a combined 24-6 final score. San Diego has been outscored 181-196 during their first 41 contests this season.
