San Diego vs San Francisco: Padres Host Giants in a California Clash
San Francisco Giants: Champs are surging after a pair of sweeps
Stumbling during the first part of July, they opened the month with a 1-7 record; San Francisco is starting to roll as they just completed back-to-back sweeps of Philadelphia and Arizona. The Giants (49-43) are now six games above .500 and they trail the NL West leading Los Angeles Dodgers by 3.5 games. During their two series sweeps, San Francisco outscored the Phillies and Diamondbacks by a combined 43-19 final count. The Giants are one game back in the NL Wild Card race.
San Diego Padres: Friars aim for a MLB 2015 season high fifth straight win
Riding their second four-game winning streak of the season, San Diego looks to post five straight victories for the first time this year. The Padres last four-game winning run ended back on June 7, 2015, as they lost 4-0 to the Reds in Cincinnati. San Diego is 9.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West and seven games out of the NL Wild Card chase. The Friars have lost two in a row to the Giants (13-8 and 6-0) but the season series is tied a five wins and the Padres are 3-1 at home.
Giants vs Padres Predication: SFG RHP Tim Hudson (5-7 ERA 4.68) faces SDP RHP Ian Kennedy in the rumble on the rubber tonight. Hudson returns after a stint on the 15-day disabled list as he was dealing with a strained right shoulder. The Padres have lost Kennedy’s last four starts, by a 18-4 margin, including a 6-0 loss to the Giants on June 24. Not trusting either starter - we are backing the OVER with a 500 unit wager on the game total price posted at the sportsbooks.
