Tampa Bay Lightning vs Calgary Flames NHL Betting Odds and Prediction
Tampa Bay Lightning: Aiming for a stronger second half
Tied with the Anaheim Ducks as the second chalk to claim the Stanley Cup, back in early October, Tampa Bay has struggled to a 19-16-4 record so far this season. Two games short of completing the first half of their season, the Lightning have 42 points and sit sixth in the Atlantic Division. The Bolts haven’t packed much of a punch as Tampa Bay is averaging 2.51 goals per game which is good for 20th overall in the NHL. Dispite having several sharp-shooters, Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov included, defense is keeping the Lightning in games as their 2.36 goals against is the seventh best mark in the league. The Bolts had a streaky December (7-5-1) and they are 2-1-1 since returning from the Christmas break. Loaded with talent - the Bolts are due for a breakout second half.
Calgary Flames: reignited their playoff aspirations with a red-hot run during December
Following an awful October (3-8-1) that was coupled with a not so nice November (5-6-1) Calgary looked lost during the first two months of the season. The Flames caught fire in December though as they posted a 9-4-0 record to close out the 2015 portion of their schedule. The winning run has Calgary back in the playoff race as they trail Anaheim by one point in the race for third in the rather weak Pacific Division. Flames sophomore phenom Johnny Gaudreau was the December NHL Player of the Month as he potted 12 goals while recording two hat tricks and 18 points during 13 games last month. Calgary is 2-2-0 since the break and they return home following an impressive 4-0 win in Colorado on Saturday. Calgary is 2-4-3 during their last nine battles versus the Bolts.
Tampa Bay vs Calgary NHL Call: Ben Bishop (15-12-3 GAA 2.06) faces Karri Ramo (14-12-1 GAA 2.60) in the goal tending dual here. The Bolts went 2-3-1 and Bishop allowed 16 goals during his last six starts. After giving up 20 goals during his first five games, Ramo has turned things around and Calgary is 8-4-0 during his last twelve starts. Tonight’s contest is the second and final meeting of the season between these long time rivals who meet in the seven-game Stanley Cup Finals back in 2004. While the Flames were barely flickering, Tampa Bay posted a 3-1 win in Florida back on November 12, 2015. The Bolts won both matches, 5-2 at home and 2-1 (OT) in Calgary, last season.
